WELCOME TO THE WORKSHOP

Our on-site workshop is a state-of-the-art facility, custom-built for our Master Goldsmiths. Here, the Goldsmiths carry out a huge variety of services, from creating one-off pieces, to repairs on jewellery and watches, to valuations, polishing and engraving.

Our modern workshop is a busy place, with the Goldsmiths working on a wide variety of projects. One of the most popular and important tasks of the workshop is the production of bespoke jewellery. The Goldsmiths will work with you to design and create a special, one-off piece - be it a wedding band, an engagement ring, an eternity ring, a pendant, or a brooch. This means that customer consultation is an essential part of the Goldsmiths’ work: they will work closely with you to design the perfect piece for your special occasion.

INTRODUCING OUR MASTER GOLDSMITHS

The craft of the Master Goldsmith is a very specialised traditional craft. It requires dedicated study and apprenticeship, an instinctive knowledge of precious metals derived from years of working with such metals, an expert eye and a passion for the beauty of fine gems and metals.

The modern goldsmith is a master of the many distinct trades that goldsmithery encompasses. In the past, specialisation was common, with each trade designated to a different professional. Now, the aim of the Master Goldsmith is to be skilled in as many of these trades as possible.

Our Master Goldsmith, Bernard, is fully trained and experienced in every area of his trade. He is also a traditionalist, which means he likes to do things properly, with great care and attention to detail. A ring or pendant created by Bernard is truly a thing to treasure.

Bernard English is the original Master Goldsmith of the team, with over four decades’ experience in his craft. In that time he has developed an innate sense of the metals he works with and is able to craft the finest jewellery in gold, silver and platinum. Previously involved in the retail side of the business, he is now able to work full-time with his first love: the precious metals. He spends his days in the workshop, repairing, designing and creating jewellery for our customers.

Robert is a fully qualified Goldsmith who has learned from and worked with Bernard. He has been schooled in the many skills of the Master Goldsmith: repairs and alterations, making diamond settings, setting precious stones, making moulds, waxes and castings, and cutting and polishing stones.
